Dissatisfied with the levels of sanitation maintained in the city, the Noida Authority has now proposed to privatise the civic service. The authority has roped in private firm Ernst & Young as its consultant for preparing a detailed report to keep the city clean. Noida authority will begin with privatizing the cleaning of streets, markets, and residential sectors. It will also introduce a door-to-door waste collection, segregation and disposal system based on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The authority has already commissioned a solid waste management plant that will have a capacity of treating between 300 and 500 metric tonnes of waste, including bio-medical and industrial waste. With this new proposal, the Authority claims it will soon revamp the complete sanitation arrangements of the city.
