A panel discussion ‘Revisiting, Realigning & Reinforcing Resource Management,’ led by Dr Shakti Singh Chauhan, Country Head-FM at 32nd, brought together industry experts to delve into the intricacies of revisiting, realigning, and reinforcing resource management practices. The insights shared by the panellists, Prashant Sangle, Head-Facilities Management (India) at Godrej Properties Ltd, Aravind Ramaraju, Head-Centre of Excellence, Global Real Estate, Admin and Physical Security at LTIMindtree, and Prem Prakash, Vice President, Engineering Solutions / SME Manufacturing at SMC Limited, shed light on practical strategies and innovative approaches to enhance sustainability and efficiency in facilities management.
Revisiting & Understanding Ground Realities: Prashant Sangle emphasised the need to revisit existing practices, particularly in the context of sustainability. He highlighted the significant impact of buildings on carbon emissions, urging a reevaluation of how buildings are run post-construction. Sangle pointed out common inefficiencies in systems like solar water heating and sewage treatment plants, advocating for a ground-level approach to identify and rectify these issues. He underscored the importance of sustainable supply chains and proper training for facility management teams to ensure the success of sustainability initiatives.
Realigning Strategies with Technological Integration: Aravind Ramaraju discussed the dynamic nature of resource management and the necessity of realignment in response to internal and external changes. He shared a compelling example of using sensors and technology to optimise cleaning schedules in high-usage workspaces, demonstrating how technological integration can lead to improved efficiency and resource optimization.
Reinforcing through Effective Implementation: Prem Prakash highlighted the critical role of facility management partners in achieving sustainability targets, emphasising the transition from policy to practice. He pointed out the importance of having the right mindset and the right partners to ensure that sustainability policies are effectively implemented on the ground.
