In the first 100 days at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport which started the commercial operations on March 23, 1.9 million passengers – domestic and international – were handled. Two new international airlines commenced operations from Hyderabad.
The airport, which has been designed to be environment friendly, has achieved savings in energy consumption (20%) and water consumption (25%). RGIA will be the second airport in the world to be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) certified, once it gets the official certificate for the same, says an official Press Release from GMR- HIAL, a joint venture promoted by GMR Infrastructure, Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad, Airports Authority of India and Government of Andhra Pradesh.
The other services launched during the 100 days include porter, valet and free buggy services; shuttle coaches; radio taxis and free coach service from PTC to the terminal.
