Citizens who are caught littering in Ahmedabad will have to cough up a hefty fine of र5000 for littering in the streets. The City Municipal Corporation has planned to scale up fines from र150 to र5,000, depending on the extent of littering. The new proposal envisages a penalty of र100-150 as the first warning; repeat offenders will be fined र500. The shops and establishments that do not heed to warnings will be fined र5,000 per offence.
