Rs.5,000 for littering!

Citizens who are caught littering in Ahmedabad will have to cough up a hefty fine of 5000 for littering in the streets. The City Municipal Corporation has planned to scale up fines from 150 to 5,000, depending on the extent of littering. The new proposal envisages a penalty of 100-150 as the first warning; repeat offenders will be fined 500. The shops and establishments that do not heed to warnings will be fined 5,000  per offence.
