Sanitary napkins for र1

Low-cost and hygienic sanitary napkins from the hosiery waste will soon be made available to the rural women in Punjab. Ludhiana, the hub of the textile and knitting industry, has been chosen for the pilot project. The project, to be executed by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST), will take care of the huge amounts of knitwear waste that the textile units find difficult to handle. It is estimated that the hosiery waste will be bought at `3-4 per kg and a napkin will cost just र1.
