SDMC proposes to invest 42% budget on sanitation and education

SDMC (South Delhi Municipal Corporation) proposed to allocate 42% of the entire budget on sanitation and education. In FY2016-17, SDMC has announced total Rs 4,056.57 crore for education and sanitation services, allocating 21.13% and 21.49% of total budget, respectively. The authority has also proposed to enhance cleaning and sanitation activities in SDMC area, with a plan to install 5,000 dustbins, collect door-to-door garbage on 1,500 cycle rickshaws, build two waste-to-energy units and construct 100 toilets.

In the next year budget proposal the corporation will set up CAD laboratories in 589 primary schools under its jurisdiction apart from installing solar panels in 40 municipal buildings and 450 schools. In addition, SDMC will also redevelop two markets including New Friends Colony, Vikaspuri, Punjabi Bagh, Hauz Khas and Greater Kailash-1.
