Seeking Public Opinion

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is planning to invite public opinion on the anti-littering law before getting it approved by the Delhi government. Under the law, fines for offences like spitting, littering and urinating in public places are likely to be increased substantially to deter people from littering the city. The fine would vary between Rs200 and Rs500. An additional amount of Rs25 would be charged from those who are caught littering second time in a day. Around 1,000 inspectors would be deployed all across the city to collect fines from violators on the spot.
