Selling “Cleanliness & Hygiene”

“Two to three years back, we had very few target segments where cleanliness meant a serious business, but the recent clean India campaign has changed the entire scenario. Now, there is no particular target segment but all the segments have become equally important,” opines Deepak Pokar, Proprietor-Deepak Gruh Udyog, a prominent supplier of complete cleaning solutions in Aurangabad-Marathwada region.

Distributorship & Manufacturing

Providing a complete range of cleaning products including personal care, washroom hygiene and hand hygiene to carpets and doormats, we supply the products of almost all the prominent companies such as Roots Multiclean, 3M, Dabur Professional sanitary solutions, PCI consumer products and Revachem. The clients too are from diverse segments – Banking, Insurance offices, Dairy, Healthcare, educational institutes, FM companies, industries like food processing, metal and pharma.

Presently, we are catering to Aurangabad, Marathwada region of Maharashtra. But with Gati, SPOTON and other logistics companies, we are now aiming to reach other states too.
We are primarily in the business of trading and not much in manufacturing as many good products are already present in the market. We make it available wherever required. Yet, we are manufacturing two brands: ‘Swatchh’ household liquid detergent and ‘soft’ brooms.

The 3S approach

I started my company in 2007. Then awareness in this zone was limited to broom and phenyl; however, there is stiff competition now. But our approach remains focused on three things: Quality products supply, service and support. While most of the distributors limit themselves to the supply and service, we provide the necessary technical support too. More-often, before buying a solution, clients come up with the problems and concerns such as which solution would be best for a given stain or spot? I personally work on their concerns and make sure that clients meet the right solution within their budget. We even release problem solving videos that benefit clients as a value addition with every product they buy. We are more concerned about our relationship with clients than selling products. Our role is primarily limited to distribution/sales and service part is done by the relative company; we believe customer is king and hence if a customer complains, we ensure that it gets sorted out.

Eco-friendly solutions are on rise and we are ready to serve if we get such demands.

The Holistic way

The biz-way and so the futuristic plans have to be holistic in nature. I am not aiming to garner maximum profits possible out of this cleanliness business; I am not aiming at quantity, but I am here to spread maximum possible message of cleanliness and hygiene across the society within our limited budget. Recently we organized a cleanliness program at Kamla Nayan hospital. Which has recently received the award for being the second cleanest hospital in the country. We have been the proud supplier of cleaning solution to this hospital. In that particular 15-days long program we taught how best to use a solution and how to avoid gathering unnecessary dust.
