Soon, DTC buses to run on biofuel

In a year, about 120 DTC buses will start running on compressed biogas (CBG). The fuel derived from sludge is a byproduct of treated sewage at Delhi Jal Board’s sewage treatment plants (STPs). The project supported by the Swedish government and the Ministry of Renewable Energy has a treatment capacity of 72 million liters per day. A detailed project report is being developed after which a special purpose vehicle will be created for implementing the project. The CApure system, being provided by Lackeby Water AB – Division Purac Puregas, will be designed for a minimum methane leakage and will lead to an emission reduction of 10,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
