Disparity of water & sewer disposal and collection & segregation facilities between different areas has been a major issue in metropolitan cities. Mumbai faces its share of hurdles too. On an average, the City generates over 7,025mt of waste on a daily basis, of which 5000mt is general municipal waste, 2000mt silt & construction debris and 10mt bio-medical waste. Managing the growing quantity of waste against limited dumping grounds has demanded implementation of effective solid waste management programme in Mumbai.
