Tetra Pak converted to eco-friendly tables for a local school in Mumbai

‘Go Green with Tetra Pak’ ensures school kids have safe and eco-friendly furniture

A set of classroom furniture that has been made from recycled beverage cartons was presented to the City of Los Angeles School in Matunga, a school that is supported by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

‘Go Green with Tetra Pak’, an initiative in its twelfth year in Mumbai, has donated over 350 desks and over one lakh other recycled products such as notebooks, exam pads, garden benches and many more such products to the community over the years.

The recycled desks not only spread awareness about recycling but also enlighten the young students of the need to adopt sustainable solutions for the future.

Nirjhara Rastogi, Communications Director, Tetra Pak South Asia said: ‘Tetra Pak cartons are paper-based and recyclable.  So, when consumers choose carton packaging, they are already making a positive choice.  And when they segregate used cartons from wet and hazardous waste, they ensure that waste pickers earn an additional livelihood, and the used cartons get recycled into many useful items like benches, desks, roofing sheets and more.  All we need is for citizens to make the right choice.”
