Tirupur Corporation to implement waste to energy

Tirupur Municipal Corporation is planning to set up a power project to harness the potential of solid waste generated in the city. A Consultant has been sought for the same by Chennai Municipal Corporation on behalf of Tirupur Municipal Corporation.

Tirupur Municipal Commissioner KR Selvarajtold Clean India Journal, “An Expression of Interest (EOI) has been called for short listing the consultant.” Over 500 tonnes of solid waste is generated in the city on a daily basis. “The corporation has a 10 acre compost yard equipped with machineries but it needs up gradation from the aspect of scientific disposal,” he added.
