UP toilet building drive intensifies

The UP government has set out to construct toilets for rural households and the number of constructed toilets has seen a steep rise this year. About 14 lakh toilets have been built so far. In total, 26.59 individual toilets have been built across rural UP. This not only is an initiative to improve the sanitation and hygiene conditions in the State but also to address the safety and dignity of women. So, the numbers have shot up- from 38.1% from October 2, 2014 – when Swachh Bharat Mission was launched – to 42.01%.
