W-C Railway calls for cleaning service contractors

The West-Central Railway has planned to outsource cleaning in Bhopal to professional service providers to keep platforms clean. Speaking to CIJ, MS Bhatia, Sr Divisional Commercial Manager in Bhopal, said, “Cleaning of railway stations is in itself a specialised and challenging job. With high footfall the time available for cleaning is limited. Considering all these factors, the approach for cleaning such premises has to be unique and different. Besides, being a public area, the hygiene standard levels have to be maintained at all times of a day.”

The cleaning contractors would be maintaining the platforms, toilets, circulating area, FOBs, waiting hall, main hall, reservation office, booking office and the administration building for the period of three years.

“By outsourcing of the cleaning job to private contractors, not only the railway platforms and trains, even the tracks can be kept litter-free. The coaches would be cleaned using state-of-the-art equipment like high-pressure jets and heavy-duty industrial scrubber-drier of reputed brands like Nilfisk, Eureka Forbes Ltd, Roots Multiclean Ltd, Diversey, Karcher, Inventa and UT pumps,” he added

In a recent tender released, the railways has also called on cleaning contractors to arrange adequate number of cleaning equipment such as Panja, Fawda, baskets, buckets, bamboos for brooms, and squeeze & spray machines for sprinkling deodorant/perfumed chemical
