In a major development, the Jammu and Kashmir government has launched massive steps to encounter the winged terrorists: the mosquitoes.
Close on the heels of reporting of a large number of cases of dengue, it has been viewed that mosquitoes are no less risky than the terrorists, as both take lives of human being.
The Directorate of Health Services in Jammu and Samba districts has launched steps on a war footing to conduct sprays and fogging in stagnant pools of waters, sewerages and other places where mosquito breed freely.
According to Dr. B. S. Pathania, the Director Health Services (Jammu), the supervising teams comprising Epidemiologist and Malarioligist have been constituted and pressed into service to monitor the anti-mosquito operations. The Community Health and Centres and Primary Health Centres have been mobilized to carry out insecticidal sprays and cleanliness drives in collaboration with municipal and other Government agencies.
The special focus is on discouraging stagnant water around the residential areas. The local people have been asked to cooperate with the health department staffs to clean the stagnant pools of water, drains and sewerages to stop the breeding of mosquitoes.
