Whistle Army

Failing to reach anywhere in its effort to make people environment-conscious, a former Chief Secretary of Meghalaya has come up with an initiative in the state – that of using school pupils to create awareness about clean environment among people. The initiative is termed as the Sustainable Environment through Whistle Army (SEWA). The students empowered as the protectors of environment, will be given whistles and inducted into the movement. On sighting anyone damaging the environment, they will blow whistles. So far, 18 schools have become a part of the project.
