WHO says handwashing can help prevent coronavirus transmission

As the first suspected cases of coronavirus in India — which claimed over 100 lives in China and has 56 million Chinese citizens under lockdown — the WHO has released guidelines for preventing the infection from being transmitted from one person to another. These include ‘Frequent hand-washing, especially after direct contact with ill people or their environment’ and ‘Within healthcare facilities, enhance standard infection prevention and control practices in hospitals, especially in emergency departments.’
