Clarity in norms required for manufacturing sector

Having launched new chemicals and tools for professional cleaning, Revachem has a growing presence in pharma, healthcare and hospitality sectors and is now focusing on industrial and manufacturing segment. In an interview with Clean India Journal, Jigar Shah, Proprietor, shares the company’s plans and new developments.

Your company, its operations, distributors and manufacturing unit…

Revachem, a Mumbai-based company with over 45 years of experience in the field, has an FDA approved manufacturing facility at Palghar in Maharashtra. An ISO 9001 and 140001 certified facility, we manufacture cleaning and hygiene chemicals for housekeeping, kitchen and engineering segments and cater to the market through a pan India network of 28 distributors. We also import tools for commercial and industrial applications through the sister concern – Terra International. As a company, we follow three strong principles – unparalleled customer care and support, no compromise on quality and realistic prices.

How has the journey been so far?

In the last three decades of manufacturing chemicals indigenously, we have excelled in the industry by virtue of technical and management capabilities coupled with a dedicated team effort. The new manufacturing facility was formed after incorporation of Revachem. The principle of simplicity in vision and outlook has helped in our growth.

Which are the industries you are catering to?

We cater to various sectors, including facility management, hospitality and healthcare, besides corporates & specific industries like pharma and dairy. We have been able to provide cleaning solutions as per customer needs and specification, which has been our strength and hallmark.

What are the new products launched?

We have recently planned a multipronged aggressive growth strategy, wherein new product developments have been prioritised. Recently, we have launched non-foaming floor cleaner, Marbo NF, and non-foaming degreaser, HFD-NF, for mechanised cleaning and waterless industrial hand degreaser, respectively. Many other products are in the pipeline. We are now working on industry-specific requirements of sectors like marine, pharma and dairy. Though at a nascent level, we are focusing on all segments with special attention on the manufacturing sector. We have also ventured into personal care with shampoos and body gels.

How are you spreading awareness about your products?

Awareness can be generated through one-on-one interaction with the client or through literatures. Our biggest awareness is through training programmes by which we are able to reach the bottom of the chain. Our biggest support comes from our customers who are using our products. Their high level satisfaction speaks volumes about the quality of Revachem products, which they also recommend to others.

Do you have an in house R&D set up?

All our current products and new developments have been in house. We are in the process of an international tie up. No external agency for market research has been hired till date.

What are your plans in terms of expansion?

We have chalked out plans for growth and are investing in broadening our reach geographically through new distributors and logistic support. We are also entering into new segments and working to strengthen our base in segments with low presence. We have recently opened a new manufacturing facility in Vapi, Gujarat.

What are the new strategies in terms of marketing and brand promotion?

Keep it simple. Give quality products, better reach and services. We have now started taking part in various trade shows and advertising in various magazines to get brand recognition.

With the evolving cleaning sector and changing customer preferences, what are the challenges you face?

The biggest challenge is mind-set and brand image. This is true to all the Indian manufacturers. It is important to have clear local norms and certifying bodies to offer a level playing field to Indian manufacturers.
