Redefining Hygiene with Green Solutions

Common issues in airport washrooms often stem from high traffic volumes, which could lead to cleanliness and maintenance challenges. Ensuring a consistent supply of consumables like handwash & paper towels and keeping the washrooms free from malodours are the main challenges. However, a proper understanding of the bathroom chemistry along with following a prescribed sanitary protocol for janitorial staff can help in maintaining washroom hygiene.

With the advent of smart technology, airports are now equipped with sensor-driven systems that not only enhance the user experience, but also streamline operations. For instance, automatic soap dispensers, faucets, air hand dryers, and paper towel dispensers are becoming standard in airport washrooms to minimize touch and reduce cross-contamination.

“We have redefined the way washroom hygiene is scientifically handled in various airports across India especially, the Mumbai International Terminal and the Kochi airport. Green products are used instead of corrosive toilet bowl cleaners,” says Yugesh Naik, Founder & Chief Strategist, Alpha Products. “These products enable the janitorial staff to remove discoloration very often seen in washbasins & urinals and works as antibacterial agents.”

Waterless urinals are an innovative solution to conserve water, and their maintenance is quite specific to ensure proper hygiene and functionality. The cleaning process involves using a nonabrasive cleanser (Amerind) and descalers (Scalefree) for the interior and exterior surfaces. For optimal care, some manufacturers recommend using their specially formulated products designed to protect the urinal’s finish and maintain the effectiveness of the liquid sealant barrier. Regular maintenance includes replacing the cartridge system and replenishing the sealant to prevent odours and ensure smooth operation.

“We have been able to achieve high rate of customer satisfaction with our flagship product BCS A1 – Bathroom Cleaner cum Sanitizer concentrate. This has helped to remove hard water stains from the sanitary fixtures, yellow stains from the toilet bowl and tough lime scale from the urinal & toilet bowls very efficiently compared to conventional corrosive toilet cleaners.”

Once the washroom is odour neutralized by using either aqua based room freshener (Khushboo -A5) or AHU fitted Aroma oil diffuser (Khushboo Diffuser oil), it is made toxin free with Tranquil Breeze that purifies the air and circulates a fragrance.

So, making a transition from using old formulations to latest, indigenously made, cost effective and environment friendly products, we are trying to create a safe atmosphere for the passengers and the staff.
