In a bid to get rid of manual scavenging on railway tracks, bio-toilets have been installed in 50 coaches of various trains. These bio-toilets retain the human waste in the tank. Different types of nonpathogenic bacteria strains are injected in these tanks. The bacteria digest the human waste and help produce harmless gas and water.
