Clear Vision on Sustainability

Grishma Zade, the dynamic professional, is currently responsible for maintaining three properties of her company, including the Corporate HO tower, a guest house and a newly inaugurated office: in all, catering to around 500 employees. As the single point of contact, she is involved in project and O&M activities related to renovation and repair & maintenance of offices and stand-alone properties.

Grishma states that all office spaces are decorated and maintained with eco-friendly products that are green-certified. “Chemicals and consumables used for day-to-day cleaning are green and even the ply used in making office partitions has been made from crops.” While admitting that green products come with a higher price tag, the company’s clear vision and her well-honed negotiating skills ensure the 15-20% cost increase makes the whole initiative viable.

The selection process for the right cleaning product was done after initial surveys and identifying nine vendors based on fixed parameters. Vendors were asked to share samples of their product after which they were tested for dilutions and performance. Three vendors were short-listed and after working with them for a month, one was finalized. While TASKI R6 was good for deep cleaning, it was equally important to ensure the product was safe for use by housekeeping personnel. With feedback from end-users, EcoSys as a cleaning product is still evolving, getting to the right level of composition and concentration. However, she feels they have made the right choice and eventually, the vendor will deliver.

On the use of sustainable products, Grishma says that the first piece of office décor to be replaced would be commercial ply with an eco-friendly option. The e-certification of these products provide longer guarantees. They are stronger, float on water and are fire-resistant. Similarly, day-to-day acid-based cleaning products could be replaced with eco-friendly ones. “With a clear vision on sustainability, we will be taking more green initiatives in the future.”
