Girl power

More toilets for women will be seen in Beijing after a guideline issued by the Beijing Municipal Commission of City Administration and Environment which states that the ratio of female to male cubicles will be 1.5 or 2 in 2013. It will be applicable for all new and renovated public toilets in the city. This was done in response to the campaign launched by volunteers to “Occupy men’s toilets” earlier this year in protest against insufficient women toilets. It is being hailed as a step forward in protecting women rights.
