Owing to the foul odour and high percentage of COD in treated water, released outside GPCB has issued notices to Geo Hybrid Industrial Solution Pvt Ltd (GSPL) asking to close down its operations immediately till further notice siting pollution norms violation. The board has asked the distributor, Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) to cut off the GSPL’s electricity supply with immediate effect. The other units that were ordered immediate closure include Kiran Industries, Jaishal mills, Sunflower Processors, Vaishali Silk mills, Paras Prints, Harshad Dyeing and Printing mills, SL Bhatia Textile industries, Ambaji Syntex, Sunrise Industries, Maker Sizing Pvt Ltd and Bhagyalaxmi Prints Pvt Ltd.
It is worth noting that two villagers earlier died in an industrial accident in the plant while carrying out an incineration and the local residents have demanded a permanent closure of the plant.
