Manure from municipal waste

Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) scheme, the Department of Agriculture would soon be establishing a composting unit at Tirupur. The scheme would be a PPP venture to convert municipal waste into manure. The unit would be equipped to handle five tonnes of waste (non-segregated) per day from which the biodegradable waste required for the organic manure production would be sequestered. A minimum of 140 tonnes of manure is expected from the unit within a year.
