The North Eastern Railway administration has deployed On Board Housekeeping Service (OBHS) in running trains. A team is available in select trains that will take care of the hygiene requirements. Stickers bearing the contact number of the OBHS service provider along with the work undertaken are prominently displayed in all coaches. Passengers can contact on the number or in person for availability of water or other queries regarding hygiene. To regularly monitor the services provided and take remedial measures, customer feedback is sought on prescribe pro forma.
Around 20 Mail/Express trains of Lucknow division of NER have been equipped with OBHS. Likewise this facility is also available in 26 Mail/Express trains of other railways passing through NER.
