Plastic-free pilgrimage

In a heartening gesture, the chief priest of the Ayyapan temple at Adyar has, like the corporate houses, ventured into social responsibility. He, along with his friends, is distributing pamphlets to devotees asking them to use butter paper and bio-degradable bags instead of plastic during the pilgrimage to Sabarimala between November and January. The removal of 17kg plastic from the carcass of a cow recently provoked them to begin this campaign.
