Rhino tanks making inroads into India

A high level team of Australia-based Rhino Water Tanks was recently in India to do a feasibility study of the market potential for its modular steel water tanks that can be used for domestic, rural and industrial purposes. The corrugated water tanks are manufactured using membrane technology and are fire resistant. With a service life of 60 years, “these tanks are ideal for various applications in India”, Harvey Durston, Director of Rhino, told CIJ. Such large tanks, ranging between 26,000 and 770,000 litres, are not available in India. “We also manufacture flat panel steel industrial tanks up to two million litres.”

With increasing infrastructure development in India, he said, “Rhino tanks can be easily built on site within three days depending on the size required and can be dismantled and transported at a negligible cost for reuse in another location.” This is the ideal time to enter India and “we are looking at tie-ups with like-minded partners. Rhino would be a complementary product to any tank manufacturer and not a competition”, he added. Since the tank is transported in CKD condition, the cost of shipping from Australia is low.

“Rhino products are manufactured at our Western Australian factory under a quality management system certified to ISO 9001. All tank components, including the Hydrashield 1000 liner, are fabricated in our factory, which means we can control the quality of every aspect of the tank from manufacturing to installation.”

These tanks are ideal for rain water harvesting, which has now been made compulsory for all upcoming large projects in India. It also comes with roofing on the tank for clean and hygienic potable water storage. It can be used as an overhead tank as well.
