Road from waste

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has developed a construction and demolition waste processing plant at Burari in north Delhi to treat the massive amount of construction and demolition rubble produced in the city.

The initial feasibility study conducted by the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) revealed that the waste had potential as construction material for roads. The plant will process the waste collected from various designated areas before being used for construction of roads and pavements in the capital. This move will ease the problem of shortage of landfill or dumping grounds.
