Taking heed of the conservancy workers demand for safety gear while on field, the Mumbai Civic body has ordered for 40,000 gumboots for its workmen at a cost of र 4 crore. The boots of high quality would be flame retardant and chemical resistant. Unfortunately the conservancy workes’ union head has protested saying that the need of the hour was for safety shoes and not gumboots!
