SCR cleanliness drive fetches 1.02cr

As part of its massive cleanliness drive for railway tracks, platforms and station waiting rooms, the South Central Railways has enforced the Indian Railways (Penalties) for Activities Affecting Cleanliness at Railway Premises- Rules-2012 in all stations falling under its jurisdiction.

The Rule imposes a fine up to 500 for littering, spitting, urinating, defecating, pasting posters or dumping garbage on the any railway premises. The SCR has mobilized its sanitary staff in all railway stations to catch and fine anybody violating this Rule. About 1.02 has been collected by the way of fines from different railway stations. As part of its cleanliness and hygiene drive, the SCR fined altogether 50,668 people in the first nine months of the 2013-14 fiscal years.
