Segregated waste bins for Railways

The Indian Railways in a significant step in waste management will be providing separate bins for wet and dry waste at all passenger interface areas in A1 & A category stations besides the pantry service, vending stalls and independent food stalls. In addition to instructing food vendors to appropriately bin the waste, the railway staff will also be educated on collection and disposal of the waste.

Green coloured bins for biodegradable waste and black for non-biodegradable waste and polythene liner bags will be provided. The zonal railways will first initiate the drive with the segregated collection in A1 stations and then A category stations.
