To combat the littering problem at Sanjay Gandhi National Park, the forest department officials have come up with a unique initiative that will reduce the littering problem and also help in the employment of the tribal people. The officials have set up a plastic shredding machine that will shred around 600kg of plastic waste collected from the park every month. The shredded plastic is converted into planks which are then assembled as benches and set up inside the parks. A deposit of `50-100 is collected from visitors and is refunded only if they retain all plastic articles they carried in the park.
