Youth cleanliness drive

Youth from across the country undertook a cleanliness drive to preserve tourist spots in Jammu & Kashmir recently. Youngsters participating in the nine-day camp under a National Youth Camp was organised by the National Youth Project, New Delhi, in association with Peace Foundation, Jammu and Kashmir. During the camp, volunteers collected garbage dumped around the world famous Jhelum Lake, sending strong message that our property, tourist spots must be preserved and especially the lake which is a source of livelihood to many people. They next plan to clean the Dal Lake in Srinagar.

According to official figures, 430,000 tourists, including 23,000 foreigners visited Kashmir in 2008.
