Vishakapatnam Municipal Corporation recently received the Euro India Award for Environmentally Sustainable Cities in Leuven, Belgium. The award is given to those cities which follows sustainable practises with reference to sewerage, storm water drains, power generation and energy management, Carbon emission efficiency, promotion of green areas and Urban Planning areas. Vishakapatnam was awarded for its efforts in achieving sustainability, particularly in the areas of SWM, street-lighting, water supply & distribution, transportation and ban on the use of plastic.
