Ion Exchange to recycle MCF water

Ion Exchange (India) Ltd has been awarded the contract for a 1 MLD (million litres per day) effluent recycle project by the UB Group’s Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd. (MCF), one of the largest fertilizer manufacturers in South India. Mangalore receives a fairly large amount of rain every year and the MCF site is also very close to the Gurpur river bank. However, like most industries in the area, MCF faces a water crisis during summer. MCF therefore decided to implement several measures to conserve water, including the treatment and reuse of waste water generated in its factory. As MCF is currently buying fresh water from the municipality at 30/cu.m, the plant is expected to save over 60 lakhs a year on water bills while at the same time conserving over 1 MLD of fresh water per day.
