Toilet Frauds

A random verification of nine houses in remote Juramunda village under Boudh district, Odisha, showed payments were made to executing agencies for constructing toilets under Total Sanitation Campaign programme. But toilets hardly existed in those houses. In similar exercise, toilets were not found in 10 houses in Charpali village in the same district although executing agencies had already been paid for construction of toilets. An NGO got the payment for construction of toilets in Jogindrapur New Upper Primary School, but ground verification found no toilet in the school. In Kantamal block of Boudh district where a large number of frauds had been reported, 15,669 toilets had been constructed in BPL categories against the target of 28,070.
