This page explains what cookies Clean India Journal uses, what each one is for, and how you can change your mind at any time. Every cookie listed here is one we have actually confirmed on the site, not a generic list.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep. Some are needed for the site to work at all. Others tell us how the site is being used, or let us show Clean India Journal advertising to people who have visited before. Cookies cannot read anything else on your device.
Changing your choice
You can change or withdraw your choice whenever you like — open your cookie settings. The same link sits in the footer of every page. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent, and when you switch a category off we delete the cookies in it rather than merely stopping new ones.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the strictly necessary ones, parts of the site may stop working.
The cookies we use
Strictly necessary — always on
These make the site work and remember what you chose. They are not used to track you and cannot be switched off.
| Cookie | What it does | Set by | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
cij_consent | Remembers which cookie categories you allowed. | Clean India Journal | 6 months |
cij_ck | A yes/no flag so our page cache serves you the version matching your choice. | Clean India Journal | 6 months |
wordpress_*, wp-settings-* | Keeps you signed in and remembers your preferences. Only set if you have an account and log in. | WordPress | Session to 1 year |
Analytics — off until you allow them
These tell us which articles are read and how people move through the site, so we know what to publish more of.
| Cookie | What it does | Set by | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Tells one visitor apart from another. Does not hold your name or email. | Google Analytics | 400 days |
_ga_HCBWVNYDBC | Keeps track of your visit for our main Analytics property. | Google Analytics | 400 days |
_ga_Z8LW5WL5QF | The same, for a second Analytics property still in use. | Google Analytics | 400 days |
_wpfuuid | Recognises you across form submissions so entries can be linked. | WPForms | 400 days |
_wpfuj | Records which pages you saw before sending a form. | WPForms User Journey | 365 days |
pmpro_visit | Counts your visit once per browsing session for our internal reports. | Paid Memberships Pro | Until you close the browser |
Advertising — off until you allow them
These let us measure whether our campaigns work and show Clean India Journal advertising to people who have already visited. If you allow this category, Google may set cookies such as _gcl_au on this site, and cookies including IDE and test_cookie on doubleclick.net, when you interact with an advert or arrive from one.
Functional — off until you allow them
Some pages embed video from YouTube. When you play an embedded video, YouTube sets its own cookies — typically VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, YSC and related entries — to remember playback settings and measure views. These are Google’s cookies, governed by Google’s own privacy policy. Switching this category off may stop some embedded content loading.
Where you are makes a difference
If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, nothing beyond the strictly necessary cookies is stored until you choose. That is what the ePrivacy Directive and the GDPR require, and we apply it through Google Consent Mode, so measurement and advertising stay switched off in your browser until you say otherwise.
Everywhere else, including India, analytics and advertising cookies are enabled when you arrive and you can switch them off at any time using the link above. India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Rules bring in their consent requirements on 13 May 2027, and we will move to asking first, everywhere, before that date.
Sharing and transfers
We do not sell your personal data. The analytics and advertising cookies above are set by Google, which processes that data on servers outside India, including in the United States, under its own terms. You can read how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Questions, or asking us to delete your data
Write to us at info@cleanindiajournal.com and we will respond. See also our Privacy Policy.
