Disinfection system to be implemented for safer train travel

Indian Railways to have CSIR-developed disinfection systems set in place for safe travelling

Developed by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO), the disinfectant system meets Indian requirements. This UV-C technology is said to be totally effective in mitigating the airborne transmission of SARS-COV-2.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh said, “This disinfection technology has been developed to combat the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in places such as train coaches, closed spaces, AC buses and can even be used for classrooms, auditoriums, large conference rooms, malls, etc.”

Singh went on to add that this technology has been tried out in Indian Railways successfully, and has also been tested in air-conditioned buses as well as in the Parliament House.  He is confident that it can now be rolled out for use by the general public.
