Several tonnes of mule dung that is littered everyday on the 13km track of the cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishnodevi will soon become a source of energy generation for the Shrine Board. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has sanctioned र50 lakh for the project which not only includes setting up of bio-gas plant but also solar water heaters and solar power plants of five kilo watt each. Being set up at Katra near Chetak Bhawan by a Pune-based firm Mailhem, the plant will have the capacity of generating bio-gas from four tonnes of mule dung every day. Moreover, it would also have the facility to convert bio-gas into electricity.
