West Central Railway, Tughlakabad, is planning to outsource cleaning of loco equipment at its electric loco shed. The job would entail cleaning of 900 sets Traction motors, 1674 sets of auxiliary motors and 486 sets of auxiliary compressors & 126 MOH / IOH locos.
M S Meena, Divisional Electrical Engineer, Electric Loco Shed, told Clean India Journal, “We had to reconsider the tender as there was not enough participation from the bidders for the tender floated earlier. There was a mistake from the L1 bidder in terms of Performance Bank Guarantee, so we had to re-tender it.”
“The job was primarily done in house in the past but the magnitude of the cleaning requirement has led to outsourcing of services for the job,” he added. The work entails cleaning of spare parts and auxiliary motors of Loco equipment, which generally requires major overhauling after a period of one and a half years. It will also involve hiring of Non-AC Vehicle at ELS / Tughlakabad.
