CII launches India-specific Green Product Certification

CII recently launched ‘GreenPro’ Green Product Certification for India. ‘GreenPro’ adopts a holistic cradle to cradle approach in assessing products that include – design, raw materials, manufacturing process, performance during use and recycle & reuse at the end of the product life. GreenPro Certification will help manufacturers to position their products as green and eco-friendly.

As part of the initiative, CII has signed an MoU with UL (Underwriters Laboratories), a global independent safety science company, dedicated to promoting safe living and working environments. UL will be the Knowledge Partner with CII for offering GreenPro Services in the Country.

Thus far, in assessing green products, the extent of green was addressed through declaration from manufacturers or labelling from other countries which in most of the cases does not suit the Indian context & requirements. However, with the launch of GreenPro Certification, green products, equipment & technologies can be certified within the Country.
