The health department of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has recalled all its domestic breeding checkers to deal with the menace of Culex mosquitoes and spray anti-larval insecticides at breeding sites. This mosquito breeds in dirty water; especially in drains.
The weather is conducive for mosquito breeding. Therefore, MCD officials started surveillance of mosquitoes from April. In the first three months, the department checks for Culex and after the monsoon it checks on the breeding of Aedes agypti mosquito, which is responsible for dengue.
The civic agency is also preparing an action plan to deal with the menace, which will be submitted to National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP)
