Private agencies will take over cleaning and maintenance work in public toilets, according to a decision by GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation). These agencies will also ensure cleanliness around the toilets. GHMC had installed 200 steel toilets in its area, which people stopped using owing to poor hygiene and sanitation problem. According to the new decision, these toilets will now remain open for use 18 hours a day. The agency will maintain the public facilities in excellent conditions of cleanliness apart from taking care of all electrical, plumbing, drainage and other work to keep it functioning.
