EcoLogo standard revised

EcoLogo is a third-party, multi-attribute eco-labeling programme approved by the Global Ecolabelling Network, an international association of eco-labeling programmes. EcoLogo released its newly-revised environmental standard to strengthen the health and environmental requirements for certification of hard surface cleaners, specifically limiting the use of asthmagens and excluding substances that are harmful to humans or the environment. These include ammonia, formaldehyde and phthalates -hazardous chemicals commonly found in cleaning products. This broad-reaching standard would cover a variety of products used in schools and in other institutional and commercial environments as well as at home. Products such as General purpose, bathroom & glass cleaners, dish detergents, degreasers and cleaners for cooking appliances have been specified.
