Recently appointed as the Minister for Health and Family Welfare in Tamil Nadu, Dr. C. Vijayabaskar has formed modalities to fight against the mosquitoes to stop spread of dengue and launch a massive cleanliness drive in this ancient district.
Presiding over a meeting here on the steps that should be taken to prevent dengue and maintain cleanliness in the entire Podukottai region, Vijayabaskar said his ministry has accorded top-most priority is cleaning the entire municipal district to check dengue.
The Minister told the newspersons that a 15-strong force of sanitary workers have been deputed to clean plastic wastes, garbage and filth that litter the municipal district and also sanitize all stagnant pools of water, drains and rubbish-dumps.
Vijayabaskar said self-help groups have also been urged to come forward in carrying out cleaning operations by collecting plastic-waste, garbage and other house-hold refuge. The Chairman of the local municipality would be inspecting this massive cleanliness drive.
