German Engineering Federation (VDMA) in association with Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH launched its Hyderabad arm of its “Skill Development Program in Cleaning Sector skills for Facility Management (FM) sector in India”. The trainings were formally started at GMRV-CELHyderabad on July 21.
The program is running successfully in New Delhi since mid 2013 at the two training centres viz. Don Bosco Tech and GMRV-CEL-Delhi. Twenty batches of youth have already been trained and placed successfully with FM companies of repute.
The vocational training program aims to train youth from the marginalized sections of the society and raise awareness about rights of the workers and women’s rights in the cleaning sector as a whole. The objective is to create a pool of skilled youth who would efficiently and effectively use hardware available in the sector to perform professional cleaning services; thus catering to the growing need and demand for skilled manpower in this industry.
Cleaning machinery manufacturers Kaercher India, Columbus Gmbh, Unclean Uniclean Equipments Pvt Ltd, Vermop Gmbh, Vileda Professional and Roots Multiclean are active partners and provide technical support to this project on regular basis.
The launch event was attended by representatives from Facility Management Industry and cleaning machine manufacturers. Dr. Peter Hug, MD, VDMA Cleaning Systems talked about the wide range of opportunities and career growth for students in the Facility Cleaning industry. The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Sanjay Kaparaju, AVP, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited who motivated the students and extended his support to the training program in his speech. Also present were Dr. Avanish Kumar, Senior Program Leader, GMRV-CEL and Preyansi Mani, Master Trainer-VDMA.
