More than 35 municipal corporations, leading CSR heads, top manufacturing companies, hotels, hospitals, facility and home cleaning services companies, government bodies, railways… flooded the Waste Technology India Expo held from January 18 to 20, 2017, at Hyderabad. Niche waste solutions of food waste management and recycling, smart city cleaning solutions, efficient waste management software, waste to bio-gas, bulk garbage lifting machines, solid and liquid waste solutions, state-of-the-art waste receptacles, and many more products and systems were showcased.
With live demos continuously on, the expo attracted visitors, with many standing by to watch the spectacle. Almost all products exhibited were Made in India and indigenously manufactured and some of them also had patented technology.
The municipal officials visiting the show were impressed with the Made in India products especially for street cleaning, garbage collection and biogas production. “It is on such platforms that we get to see latest technology which is much needed for keeping the city clean.”
While each of the exhibitor had specific solutions, the applications were multiple. Food waste recycling enthused the hotels and restaurants and at the same time attracted the Indian Railways which were looking at adopting the system for their railway canteens and centralised kitchen.
Liquid waste treatment was high in demand, with every segment visiting the show had it in their agenda. In a short survey done with the visitors coming to the show, liquid waste solution topped the list of requirements. Overall, the Show was successful for the visitors and exhibitors alike.
