Success Story: Make in India to Export Across the World

by Clean India Journal Editor

“Yes, we export to China today! Where we started from a small vacuum motor to ATEX-certified industrial systems, our journey has been one of persistence and belief in Indian engineering,” says Sengamuthu Ditto, Managing Director, Senvac Extraction System Pvt. Ltd.

Founded by Sengamuthu Ditto, Senvac Extraction System Pvt. Ltd. is a leading Indian manufacturer of industrial vacuum and air pollution control systems. With over 25 years of experience, the company delivers Make-in-India quality with global standards, offering certified and customized solutions for industries across the world.

Ditto began working with vacuum technology back in 1997, “the goal was simple — to understand how a small vacuum motor could evolve into something bigger. Over time, my team worked on multiple projects, including central vacuum systems and industrial vacuum cleaners.

“In 2010, a small spark changed everything,” Ditto recalls. “We thought — why not make our own industrial vacuum cleaners? From that point, there was no turning back.”

Between 2010 and 2015, Senvac experimented with multiple models but struggled to make an entirely indigenous system. The breakthrough came in 2016. “We successfully began manufacturing a complete range of industrial vacuum cleaners, from compact units to 75 kW central systems. Initially, all ATEX-certified components were being imported from Europe. But soon we decided to build everything in India. Now, we are the first and only company manufacturing ATEX-certified vacuum systems in India.”

Industrial vs Commercial: Setting the Standard

In India, vacuum cleaners are broadly divided into domestic, commercial, and industrial categories. While domestic and commercial systems cater to the needs of light cleaning, industrial vacuum cleaners take care of continuous operations in demanding environments.

“Commercial machines typically run on universal motors and can work for only 30-40 minutes at a time,” Ditto explains. “But industries need systems that can run for hours — sometimes 24×7. That is where industrial machines with side channel blowers and three-phase induction motors make the difference!”

These heavy-duty systems play a critical role in manufacturing processes — from CNC machining and buffing to metal grinding and surface finishing — ensuring safety, efficiency, and hygiene at every stage.

Safety is Non-Negotiable

With industrial operations becoming more complex, dust safety has become a vital consideration. “The dust we collect is not ordinary — it can be flammable, explosive, or abrasive,” says Ditto. “So, the system design, motor type, and filter selection must all consider the nature of the dust.” Senvac’s ATEX-certified systems h designed to meet stringent global safety norms, using antistatic filters and explosion-proof components. “Safety is not optional,” Ditto asserts. “If you do not design for safety, you are putting people and processes at risk. That is something we never compromise on. ”This strong focus on safety and quality has made Senvac a trusted supplier across pharmaceuticals, composites, foundries, and defense industries.

” From building our first small vacuum motor to exporting ATEX-certified industrial systems worldwide — including to China — our journey reflects the strength of Indian engineering. We have proved that world-class technology can be designed, developed, and manufactured right here in India.”

Beyond Cleaning: Air Pollution Control at Source

Senvac does not just make cleaning machines — it builds air pollution control systems that capture dust at its source. “Cleaning equipment comes in after the dust has fallen to the ground,” says Ditto. “But air pollution control systems stop the dust from falling in the first place. That is the difference — we do not let the dust escape.

“The company manufactures a complete range of systems, including dust extraction, fume extraction, vehicle exhaust extraction, oil mist collection, and sand collection systems.

Depending on the application, these operate on either low vacuum-high airflow or high vacuum-low airflow principles. “If you want to extract light dust from large areas, you need high airflow. If you want to access narrow spaces or heavy dust, you need high vacuum. We design systems based on the site conditions and the type of dust generated,” explains Ditto.

Quality and Reliability Above All

Over the last 25 years, Senvac has become synonymous with quality. Every system is built around a simple philosophy: “Fit and forget.”

“Our goal is to ensure customers don’t have to depend on us for everyday operation,” says Ditto. “We design systems that are durable and easy to maintain. That is why we use only high-quality components like Siemens electricals and premium European-certified parts.”

The company maintains an in-house stock of spares and consumables for quick customer support. Its central vacuum systems, spanning up to four kilometers of piping with 75kW units, are among the largest in the country.

Today, Senvac serves key sectors including automotive, composites, pharmaceuticals, and defense, supplying to organizations like VSSC, SHAR, BEML, HAL, and leading private industries across India.

Expanding Horizons: From India to the World

Senvac’s success story has reached global markets. The company exports to China, Brazil, Canada, Spain, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, among others. Over 100 Senvac systems are currently operational in China.

“We have even developed truck-mounted vacuum systems for the Middle East,” Ditto shares. “These systems have been designed to collect sand and debris in remote industrial areas. It is a challenging application, but it shows what Indian manufacturing can achieve.”

He adds with a smile, “We may still be a small company, but our vision is big. Over the next five years, we plan to expand our facilities, strengthen exports, and become a leading player in heavy-duty vacuum systems worldwide.”

Looking Ahead

envac currently operates from its head office, a manufacturing plant 18km from Coimbatore city center and another sales and service outlet. A new dedicated plant for fabrication and truck-mounted systems is in the pipeline.

“With the new facility, we aim to increase capacity and cater to larger global orders. We are building for the future — for India and the world.”
