CR going mechanised!

To ensure that the private contractors clean suburban trains properly, Central Railway is planning to introduce a grading system. Each coach will be rated on a scale of 0 to 10 after they are washed at the railway car sheds. Cleaning will be carried out at Kurla, Kalwa and Sanpada car sheds. CR will start a mechanised cleaning washing plant by June 15 at Kurla. The parameters are garbage collection inside a coach, sweeping, cleaning of seats and luggage holder on the top, interior walls and ceilings, fans, lights, windows, and the train’s exterior. Everyday, 1,377 coaches will be cleaned and washed. The private contractor in charge of cleaning will be paid on the basis of the total points achieved.
