Come October, Clean India Journal is completing 14 years of publication. It is not that it has just been around; the magazine raised a voice, advocated the need to go mechanised and scientific in cleaning, reached out to the Indian cleaning professionals acting as an umbrella, gave an identity to the Indian Cleaning Industry nationally and internationally, and took a stand to be in line with the nation’s vision to achieve a clean India. The magazine looks at cleaning holistically, be it for buildings, hospitals, hotels, public places, people, vehicles, linen… And waste management not to be left behind.
The cleaning market study shows that India has a huge potential for cleaning products and technology. International manufacturers of cleaning equipment and chemicals look at India as a growing and matured market but a difficult market to understand and get established. This issue focusses on the different challenges a foreign company could face while trying to set shop in India. The other features in this issue on Housekeeping, Facility management, or report on the market for floor cleaning machines are all informative and interesting too.
Coming back to October, ‘Thank Your Cleaner Day” falls on the 16th. Those who are in the business of cleaning know how everyday millions of cleaning staff work around the clock to ensure our working and living environments are clean, safe and hygienic. Thank Your Cleaning day is an opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of the cleaning workers. More than 20 countries from around the world will be taking part in the initiative started by Kärcher in 2015.
Again, October 15 is Global Handwashing Day! This year, the theme focuses on the links between handwashing and food – including food hygiene and nutrition. Handwashing is an important part of keeping food safe, preventing diseases, and helping children grow strong. The tagline, Clean hands – a recipe for health applies to every household, community, school, workplace, eatery, healthcare…
